Money supply in April 2024
In April 2024 the M3 money supply increased by PLN 26.0bn. This was mainly driven by a rise in the value of deposits and other claims of the household sector and an increase in the value of cash in circulation.
Data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 24 May 2024 show that at the end of April 2024, the M3 aggregate amounted to PLN 2,306.8bn, i.e. PLN 26.0bn more than at the end of March 2024.
In April 2024, the value of deposits and other claims of the household sector included in the M3 aggregate increased by PLN 18.4bn, i.e. 1.5%, and amounted to PLN 1,249.30bn, whereas the value of cash in circulation rose by PLN 7.5bn, i.e. 2.1%, to PLN 374.8bn. In contrast, in the non-financial corporations sector the value of deposits and other claims included in the M3 aggregate decreased by PLN 4.1bn, i.e. 0.9%, to PLN 472.0bn.
The debt of the other financial institutions sector increased by PLN 4.2bn, i.e. 2.0%, to PLN 209.5bn, of the household sector, by PLN 3.3bn, i.e. 0.4%, to PLN 781.9bn, and of the non-financial corporations sector, by PLN 0.3bn, i.e. 0.1%, to PLN 413.2bn. The net debt of central government entities decreased by PLN 15.9bn, i.e. 4.1%, to PLN 371.2bn.
