Money supply in May 2024
In May 2024, the M3 money supply increased by PLN 24.1bn. The increase was mainly driven by a rise in the deposits and other claims of the non-financial corporation sector and other financial institutions.
Data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 24 June 2024 show that at the end of May 2024 the M3 aggregate amounted to PLN 2,330.9bn, i.e. PLN 24.1bn more than at the end of April 2024.
In May 2024, the value of deposits and other claims of the non-financial corporations sector included in the M3 aggregate increased by PLN 15.5bn, i.e. 3.3%, to PLN 487.5bn, and in the sector of other financial institutions it rose by PLN 5.7bn, i.e. 9.4%, to PLN 66.4bn. In contrast, in the household sector the value of deposits and other claims included in the M3 aggregate slightly decreased to PLN 1,249.0.
The debt of the other financial institutions sector increased by PLN 6.6bn, i.e. 3.1%, to PLN 216.0bn, and that of the household sectors ─ by PLN 2,2bn, i.e. 0.3%, to PLN 784.2bn, whereas the non-financial corporate debt decreased by PLN 3.1bn, i.e. 0.8%, to PLN 410.1bn. The net debt of central government entities increased by PLN 5.6bn, i.e. 1.5%, to PLN 376.8bn.
