NBP Vice President | First Deputy President
Piotr Wiesiołek was born on 28 February 1964 in Katowice.
A graduate of the English Language Faculty of the Catholic University of Lublin. He also completed post-graduate studies – Money and Banking – at the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the University of Warsaw. In the 1990s, he attended several specialist training courses in European central banks on such issues as foreign exchange reserve management, assets and liabilities management and securities markets.
Mr Wiesiołek started his career in banking in 1992 as securities analyst. He is a specialist in assets management, having both theoretical and practical knowledge acquired in European and US commercial banks, e.g. the Deutsche Bank AG and JP Morgan, as well as central banks, e.g. the Bank of England, De Nederlandsche Bank and Nationale Bank van België.
In the years 1992 – 1996, he worked at Narodowy Bank Polski and was engaged in the analysis of securities portfolio profitability and management in the Foreign Exchange Department. He served as vice president in commercial banks. From 2001, he was Vice President of Bank Ochrony Środowiska (BOŚ) responsible, among others, for the Treasury Department. He was also Chairman of the Assets and Liabilities Management Committee at BOŚ.
On 6 March 2008, Lech Kaczyński, the President of the Republic of Poland appointed Mr Piotr Wiesiołek as member of the Management Board of Narodowy Bank Polski and NBP First Deputy President.
Upon request by the President of Narodowy Bank Polski, on 17 February 2014, the President of the Republic of Poland Bronisław Komorowski appointed Piotr Wiesiołek as member of the Management Board of Narodowy Bank Polski and NBP Vice President, First Deputy President as of 7 March 2014
