The main goals of central banks, including Narodowy Bank Polski, focus on ensuring macroeconomic stability – above all price stability – and financial stability. The activities of central banks aimed at accomplishing these goals must be supported by the results of comprehensive economic research that applies various methodological approaches and uses a variety of research tools.

Narodowy Bank Polski actively participates in research on monetary and financial stability. Research conducted at the bank is published both in the NBP outlets ( “Publications”) and in other journals, including highly ranked foreign journals (“Publications of NBP staff” ). The Bank organises open seminars ( “Seminars” ) and conferences ( “Conferences” ) during which NBP economists and invited guests present the results of their research. The NBP Visiting Researcher Program ( “Visiting Researchers” ) supports international cooperation between NBP economists and foreign central banks and universities. The annual, open “NBP Summer Workshops” ( “NBP Summer Workshop” ) serve to maintain ties with Polish economists affiliated abroad.

A measure of the quality of research conducted at central banks is their high position in rankings of research institutions. Narodowy Bank Polski is consistently classified as one of the leading Polish institutions conducting economic research according to RePEc.
