On 12 October 2023, a new collector coin commemorating the 250th Anniversary of the Commission of National Education of the Commonwealth of the Two Nations was put into circulation. The coin can be purchased in the Bank of Lithuania online shop at coins.lb.lt and at the Bank of Lithuania cash offices in Vilnius and Kaunas.

The obverse of the coin features the coat of arms of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Vytis, against the background of the ensemble of buildings of the reformed Supreme School of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania – Vilnius University (engraving from the 1780s).

The reverse of the coin bears the image of the seal of the Commission of National Education of the Commonwealth of the Two Nations with the Latin inscription “Collegium Praefectorum Publicae Institutioni” (College of Directors of Public Education),  with a symbolic open book below it. The front cover features the title page of a primary school textbook reprinted in 1783 by the printing house of the reformed Vilnius University. The back cover of the book includes a quotation in Lithuanian from the first circular of the Commission of National Education , reading: “… the exercise and education of the young is the only condition for states’ constant happiness”.

The issue of the collector coins dedicated to the 250th Anniversary of the Commission of National Education is a joint project of the Bank of Lithuania and Narodowy Bank Polski.
