Elżbieta Chojna-Duch

Born on 22 May 1948 in Warsaw.
Graduate of the Faculty of Law and Administration at the University of Warsaw. Following doctoral studies, completed a scientific internship at Centre Européen Universitaire in Nancy (France). Long-time active academic teacher. In 1974-1999 adjunct professor, and subsequently professor at the Chair of Financial Law at the Faculty of Law and Administration of the University of Warsaw. Since 1991 lecturer at the University of Warsaw Centre of Studies in Territorial Self-Government and Local Development, in 2005–2007 its Director. From 1995 to 2000, Vice-Rector of Paweł Włodkowic University College in Płock.
From the 1990s Ms Chojna-Duch held several important public posts: in 1994-1995 and 2007-2009 Deputy Minister of Finance, in 1993-1995 member of the Self-Government Council to the President of the Republic of Poland, in 1999 member of the Legislative Council to the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, in 2002- 2007 member of the College of the Supreme Chamber of Control, in 2003-2004 chairwoman of the Council of the National Health Fund.
In 1992–1994, member of the Scientific Council to the President of NBP and member of a commission working on the codification of the banking law. Since 1990, as an expert in financial law and public finances, Ms Chojna-Duch has advised to committees of the Sejm and to the Chancelleries of the Sejm and Senate of the Republic of Poland.
Member of international associations in the field of public finances. Author and co-author of over 100 scientific works and publications, published both in Poland and abroad, numerous scientific analyses in the area of finance and financial law.
Married, with two children.
On 8 January 2010, the Sejm of the Republic of Poland appointed Ms Elżbieta Chojna-Duch as a member of the Monetary Policy Council.
