Money supply in September 2024

In September 2024, the M3 money supply increased by PLN 15.5bn. The increase was mainly driven by a rise in the value of deposits and other claims of the household sector and a rise in the value of cash in circulation.

Data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 22 October 2024 show that at the end of September 2024 the M3 aggregate amounted to PLN 2,379.2bn, i.e. PLN 15.5bn more than at the end of August 2024.

In September 2024, the value of household deposits and other claims of households included in the M3 aggregate increased by PLN 7.8bn, i.e. 0.6%, and amounted to PLN 1,276.4bn, and the value of local government deposits and other claims of local government increased by PLN 1.8bn, i.e. 2.2%, to PLN 83.8bn. The value of corporate deposits and other claims of the sector of non-financial corporations decreased by PLN 1.6bn, i.e. 0.3%, to PLN 489.7bn. The value of cash in circulation rose by PLN 5.0bn, i.e. 1.3%, to PLN 389.6bn.

The net debt of central government entities increased by PLN 16.6bn, i.e. 4.1%, to PLN 416.7bn. The debt of other financial institutions increased by PLN 3.5bn, i.e. 1.6%, to PLN 223.3bn, non-financial corporate debt increased by PLN 1.0bn, i.e. 0.3%, to PLN 416.5bn, and household debt increased by PLN 0.9bn, i.e. 0.1%, to PLN 796.1bn.
