Narodowy Bank Polski supports the full implementation of the Basel III in the EU
The Governor of Narodowy Bank Polski signed a letter addressed to the European Commission by the group of central bank governors and heads of supervision from 20 EU countries, in which they call for a full and consistent implementation in the EU of the Basel III package pertaining to the banks’ capital requirements.
The letter was addressed to the European Commission in the context of its current preparations of a legislative proposal to implement the final parts of the Basel III framework. In particular, the signatories of the letter underscore that the globally agreed capital requirements should be applied without corrections and to all levels of consolidations, and that deviating from the Basel agreement could have a negative impact on confidence in both the European banking sector and the EU regulatory framework.
