Seminar: Payment systems – policy and oversight issues
The seminar Payment systems – policy and oversight issues took place on 20-22 November in the NBP Regional Branch in Kraków. The seminar was organized within the EU-funded Programme for Strengthening the Central Bank Capacities in the Western Balkans with a view to the integration to the European System of Central Banks (Phase II).
18 representatives from central banks of Western Balkans (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Republic of Kosovo, the Republic of North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia), including
2 experts from Banking Agency of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, participated in the event.
During the 3-day seminar participants had an opportunity to gain knowledge from the NBP experts on role of the central bank in payment system, law governing the Polish payment system, financial market infrastructure oversight, instruments and entities, innovations – new payment services and instruments, standardization and cooperation in payments, SEPA in Poland.
Additionally, seminar was enriched with lectures of experts from the Polish National Clearing House and experts from the National Bank of Belgium, Magyar Nemzeti Bank and Národná banka Slovenska, who delivered presentations concerning retail payment systems via clearing house, approaches to the oversight, Hungarian approach and actions to eliminate payment fraud, Central Fraud Monitoring System and AI and harmonization. All participants underlined that presentations represented high level of complexity and professionalism.
