Award for the Governor of NBP for the consistent care for the value of the Polish currency

Professor Adam Glapiński has been awarded a prize in the “Business and Economics” category for the consistent care for the value of the Polish currency. The prize was presented at the gala celebrating the 10th anniversary of the launch of Telewizja Republika TV broadcaster.

Professor Adam Glapiński, Governor of NBP, has been honoured by Telewizja Republika with a prize for the consistent care for the value of the Polish currency. The prize was presented at the gala celebrating the 10th anniversary of the launch of Telewizja Republika on the Polish media market.

The ceremony took place at 7:00 p.m. on 25 May and was broadcast live by TV Republika. During the event prizes were awarded in four categories:  “Business and Economics”, “Culture”, “Politics” and a “Viewers’ Award”.

The award by Telewizja Republika is yet another accolade confirming the effectiveness of the Governor of NBP. Earlier, Professor Adam Glapiński had been honoured with:

  • An Award by the Polska Press Media Group for the excellent management of the central bank during the pandemic, war in Ukraine and the energy crisis;
  • A Special Economic Award of President of Poland granted by President Andrzej Duda for the maintaining of the stability of the banking system during the crisis caused by the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic;
  • A “Polish Compass 2021” award for the uncompromising, considered and effective decisions taken by NBP during the crisis, for the gold holdings growing in NBP’s vaults, for the independence and calm worthy of the country’s financial authority.

The effectiveness of Narodowy Bank Polski’s actions is confirmed by the prizes won by NBP, including the Central Banking’s Currency Manager Award (for the management of currency in the face of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine) and positive opinions of such institutions as the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development.

The dynamic post-pandemic recovery and the later invasion of Ukraine by Russia have caused a wave of high inflation, especially painful in our region, which fortunately we are slowly curbing down. […] I hope that the inflation curbing process will progress rather quicky and we will be able to cut the interest rates as early as the last quarter of this year. This will provide relief to the borrowers and boost economic growth. Yet it will only be possible when we are fully confident that inflation is under control and falling towards the NBP’s inflation target. Thus, we will continue to strive to bring inflation down permanently, at the same time doing our best to make sure this is not happening at the expense of higher unemployment and undue restraint on the growth of the Polish economy”, said ProfessorAdam Glapiński at the gala. “I would like to thank you again for the prize and emphasise that Narodowy Bank Polski will never cease to take care for the value of the Polish currency,” he added.
