Bogusław Grabowski was born in Lodz on November 15, 1959. In 1984, he graduated in econometrics and statistics from Lodz University, and in 1991 received a degree in economics from the University of Windsor (Canada). In 1992, he obtained a Ph.D. in economics. He has been on the faculty of the Economics Department of Lodz University since 1985, currently holding a lectureship. In the years 1988-89, he had research internships at the NBP Department of Economic Analysis and Forecasting and at Sussex University (UK). Boguslaw Grabowski has participated in numerous research programmes and is the author of publications at home and abroad on monetary policy, the banking system and balance of payments theory. In his academic work he specialises in macroeconomic theory, monetary policy and the balance of payments.

In 1993, he was the Deputy Voivod of Lodz and a member of the Inter-Ministerial Team for the Restructuring of the Lodz Region, and authored the Lodz Region Restructuring Programme. In the years 1993-97, he was President of the Management Board of Petrobank SA. In 1998, Bogusław Grabowski was appointed to the NBP Monetary Policy Council.
