Stanisław Nieckarz

Born on June 10, 1941.
Graduate of the Finances and Statistics faculty at the Central School of Planning and Statistics – SGPiS (at present the Warsaw School of Economics – SGH). He gained his professional experience in the Ministry of Finance, where he was initially a trainee, later advancing career in all the key departments of the Ministry. In the years 1982-1986 Minister of Finance; earlier in 1980-1982 First Deputy President of the NBP.
In 1987-1992 Economic and Financial Counsellor at the Polish Embassy in Budapest. From 1992 advisor and member of the governing bodies of commercial banks and insurance companies; from 1998 he was an expert at the Government Centre for Strategic Studies. Prior to his appointment to the Monetary Policy Council he was an advisor to Poland’s Prime Minister.
Author of over 200 publications on macro and microeconomics, as well as banking and financial systems. He headed numerous projects on methodology and application with respect to, inter alia, economic and financial systems, synthetic financial balances of the state, national accounts and financial flows, budgetary system and balance of payments.
He died on 27 October 2014.
