Member of the Monetary Policy Council
Graduate of Warsaw School of Economics. He began his professional career at the Ministry of Finance, where he worked for over 20 years, holding managerial positions since 2000, including the position of Chief Economist in the last period of his work at the Ministry.
Between 2003 and 2015, he was a deputy member and then a full member of the Economic and Financial Committee at the EU Council in Brussels. In 2008-2012, he served as Undersecretary of State, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Finance, and Government Plenipotentiary for Euro Adoption in Poland. In 2012-2015, he was a member of the Polish Financial Supervision Authority and Chairman of the Council of the Bank Guarantee Fund. In 2015-2016, he served as Alternate Executive Director at the International Monetary Fund in Washington, representing Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Poland, Serbia, Switzerland, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan on the IMF Executive Board. In 2017-2021, he was an economic consultant and advisor to numerous national and international institutions and organisations.
He is a pioneer in green finance in Poland – he was President and Director of the Institute of Responsible Finance and an expert at the Centre for Strategic Thought and the European Financial Congress. Until his appointment as member of the Monetary Policy Council he was an economic advisor to the Marshal of the Polish Senate.
Member of Team Europe in Poland, a team of experts that provides information about the functioning and policies of the European Union. Between 2017 and 2022, he also served as Chief Economist of Caritas Polska and as a member of the management board of the Pro Caritate foundation.
On 12 January 2022, the Senate of the Republic of Poland appointed Ludwik Kotecki member of the Monetary Policy Council.
