Money supply in August 2022

In August 2022, the M3 money supply increased by PLN 31.3bn. The increase was mainly driven by a rise in deposits and other claims of the sector of non-financial corporations and the sector of other financial institutions.

Data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 22 September 2022 show that at the end of August 2022 the M3 aggregate amounted to PLN 2,044.0bn, i.e. PLN 31.3bn more than at the end of July 2022.

In August 2022, the value of deposits and other claims of the sector of non-financial corporations included in the M3 aggregate increased by PLN 14.5bn, i.e. 3.4%, to PLN 435.9bn; of the sector of other financial institutions – by PLN 10.3bn, i.e. 14.7%, to PLN 80.6bn; of the household sector – by PLN 7.1bn, i.e. 0.7%, to PLN 1,030.0bn and of the sector of social security funds – by PLN 5.3bn, i.e. 52.1%, to PLN 15.6bn.

Non-financial corporate debt rose by PLN 15.4bn, or 3.7%, to PLN 436.2bn, while household debt fell by PLN 2.7bn, or 0.3%, to PLN 814.8bn. The net debt of central government entities increased by PLN 7.8bn, or 2.6%, to PLN 309.2bn.
