Money supply in August 2023
In August 2023, the M3 money supply increased by PLN 19.8bn. This was mainly due to a rise in deposits and other claims of households and the sector of social security funds.
Data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 22 September 2023 show that at the end of August 2023 the M3 aggregate amounted to PLN 2,193.0bn, i.e. PLN 19.8bn more than at the end of July 2023.
In August 2023, the value of deposits and other claims of the household sector included in the M3 aggregate increased by PLN 11.1bn, i.e. 1.0%, to PLN 1,151.6bn, and of the sector of social security funds – by PLN 5.0bn, i.e. 56.7%, to PLN 13.8bn.
Household debt rose by PLN 2.6bn, i.e. 0.3%, to PLN 779.7bn, while debt in the sector of other financial institutions fell by PLN 5.2bn, i.e. 2.4%, to PLN 211.7bn, and in the sector of non-financial corporations – by PLN 3.5bn, i.e. 0.9%, to PLN 409.2bn. The net debt of the central government sector grew by PLN 7.8bn, i.e. 2.2%, to PLN 355.9bn.
