Money supply in January 2022
In January 2022, the M3 money supply decreased by PLN 24.6bn. The decrease was mainly driven by a decline in deposits and other claims to non-financial corporations and social security funds.
Data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 22 February 2022 show that at the end of January 2022 the M3 aggregate amounted to PLN 1,960.4bn, i.e. it was by PLN 24.6bn lower than at the end of December 2021.
In January 2022, the value of deposits and other claims of the sector of non-financial corporations included in the M3 aggregate decreased by PLN 17.1bn, i.e. 4.1%, and amounted to PLN 398.0bn, of the sector of social security funds – by 5.9bn, i.e. 44.2%, to PLN 7.5bn, and of the sector of households – by PLN 2.9bn, i.e. by 0.3%, to PLN 1,043.2bn. The stock of deposits and other claims of the local government sector increased by PLN 5.1bn, or 7.1%, to PLN 77.2bn.
Household debt declined by PLN 1.7bn, i.e. 0.2%, to PLN 825.0bn, while non-financial corporate debt increased by PLN 4.3bn, i.e. 1.1%, to PLN 386.5bn. The net debt of central governments entities decreased by PLN 28.6bn, i.e. 7.4%, to PLN 359.7bn.
