New Polish representative on the Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank

In December 2022 Mr Jacek Kurski began work as an Alternate Executive Director of the Polish-Swiss Constituency of the World Bank Group in Washington.

Besides Poland and Switzerland, the constituency also includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kirgizstan, Serbia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The candidature of Mr Jacek Kurski for the position of Alternate Executive Director was submitted by the Governor of NBP as the World Bank Governor for the Republic of Poland.

Mr Jacek Kurski is an economist and graduate in international trade at the University of Gdańsk. He has broad experience in the public sector, which he has gained at all its levels: municipal, legislative, government and international. He has worked both as a manager and as a member of supervisory boards in such fields as regional development, finance, infrastructure and environmental protection.

Mr Jacek Kurski was vice-chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Voivodeship Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management in Gdańsk, as well as a member of the Budget Committee of the Pomeranian Regional Parliament. As an MP to the Sejm of the Republic of Poland he served as vice-chairman of the State Treasury Committee.

He has also gained extensive experience in international cooperation since as a Member of the European Parliament he worked in the European Parliament’s Committee on Regional Development and the Committee on the Internal Market and Consumer Protection.

Mr Jacek Kurski participated in seminars on international monetary relations and also holds a Diploma of the Ministry of State Treasury entitling him to sit on the supervisory boards of state-owned companies.

On 5 December, Mr Jacek Kurski took part in a meeting of the Polish-Swiss Constituency of the World Bank for the first time.
