The Cash & Issue Department performs tasks related to forecasting the circulation of notes and coins in Poland, dealing with matters related to the automation and mechanisation of cash handling at NBP and planning and organising the issuance of national currency

The Cash & Issue Department performs tasks related to forecasting the circulation of notes and coins in Poland, dealing with matters related to the automation and mechanisation of cash handling at NBP and planning and organising the issuance of national currency.

The tasks of the Cash & Issue Department also include:

  • conducting expert appraisals of authenticity of notes and coins,
  • exchanging worn and damaged domestic notes and coins,
  • selling collector coins, notes and numismatic items, and commemorative coins,
  • developing rules and the organisation of supply of currency to banks and other entities authorised by law to withdraw currency from NBP and deposit it with NBP.
