The Department of Statistics performs tasks related to gathering, processing and making available information, and reviewing it on an ongoing basis, regarding in particular monetary statistics, prudential and stability statistics, balance of payments, the international investment position, external debt and the financial situation of economic entities of the non-financial sector.

Moreover, the tasks of the Department of Statistics include:

  • designing the rules for transmitting to NBP the data necessary for the determination of monetary policy, periodic assessment of the monetary situation of the state and systemic risk analyses,
  • developing instructions and guidelines for, and providing ongoing guidance to, banks and other entities compiling statistical reports,
  • cooperation with domestic and international institutions in the area of statistics data exchange.
