Money supply in December 2021

In December 2021, the M3 money supply increased by PLN 13.1bn. The increase was mainly driven by a rise in deposits and other claims of households and the local government sector.

Data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 26 January 2022 show that at the end of December 2021 the M3 aggregate amounted to PLN 1,985.0bn, i.e. PLN 13.1bn more than at the end of November 2021.

In December 2021, the value of deposits and other claims of households included in the M3 aggregate rose by PLN 16.3bn, i.e. 1.6%, to PLN 1,046.1bn, and the value of local government deposits and other claims of local government increased by PLN 5.6bn, i.e. 8.5%, to PLN 72.1bn. The value of deposits and other claims of other financial institutions decreased by PLN 8.7bn, i.e. 13.4%, to PLN 56.1bn, while the stock of deposits and other claims of non-financial corporations decreased by PLN 5.5bn, i.e. 1.3%, to PLN 415.1bn.

Household debt decreased by PLN 2.8bn, i.e. 0.3%, to PLN 826.7bn, while non-financial corporate debt fell by PLN 0.2bn, i.e. 0.1%, to PLN 382.2bn. The net debt of central government entities increased by PLN 62.8bn, i.e. 19.3%, to PLN 388.2bn.
