Money Supply in March 2024

In March 2024, the M3 money supply decreased by PLN 7.3bn. This was mainly driven by a decline in the value of deposits and other claims of the other financial institutions sector and the non-financial corporations sector.

Data released by Narodowy Bank Polski on 23 April 2024 show that at the end of March 2024, the M3 aggregate amounted to PLN 2,280.8bn, i.e. PLN 7.3bn less than at the end of February 2024.

In March 2024, the value of deposits and other claims of the household sector included in the M3 aggregate increased by PLN 7.5bn, i.e. 0.6%, and amounted to PLN 1,2310bn. In contrast, in the other financial institutions sector this value decreased by PLN 17.3bn, i.e. 22.4%, to PLN 59.8bn, and in the non-financial corporations sector – by PLN 8.4bn, i.e. 1.7%, to PLN 476.0bn.

The debt of the non-financial corporations sector increased by PLN 9.7bn, i.e. 2.4%, to PLN 412.9bn, while the debt of other financial institutions decreased by PLN11.5bn, i.e. 5.3%, to PLN 205.3bn, and of the household sector, by PLN 2.6bn, i.e. 0.3%, to PLN 778.6bn. The net debt of central government entities decreased by PLN 20.8bn, i.e. 5.1%, to PLN 387.1bn.
